CWC Mission Statement
Children Writing for Children, Inc. (CWC) is a nonprofit publisher established to educate the public at large about children's issues and the challenges they face through literary works written by children for children. CWC's mission is to celebrate and share the talents of exceptional young authors by recognizing the value of the child's perspective and to harness the powerful and positive force of peer influence. CWC is dedicated to building literary skills, empathy, and self-esteem among young authors and their audiences.
CWC Purpose
CWC is committed to publishing works on children's health and social issues such as Tourette's syndrome, cancer, child abuse, and cerebral palsy. CWC is especially attuned to those children who have special educational needs and/or who are economically and socially disadvantaged. These books serve to educate adults and teachers; to empower children with truth; and to show them they are not alone. Giving children a voice allows them to contribute to their own healing as well as the healing of other youths. Sometimes a child's words reach another child in a way words from an adult cannot.
CWC Founding
With
headquarters in Dallas, Texas, CWC was formed
in September, 1995, and was granted 501(C)(3)
status by the IRS in April,
1996.
